Travel Diaries: Helpful Packing Tips

There are a couple trips that are marked on my calendar for the next couple of months, so I thought I’d compile a short series with a bunch of helpful tips and tricks for when it comes to packing for, enjoying, and planning your next vacation.

Well, lets get started!

1. When it comes to packing clothes, I’m guilty of ALWAYS over packing. So here is something that I’ve learned to minimize the excess clothing: Pack in outfits, one for each day of the trip, one backup outfit, and one semiformal outfit.

2. A day or two before I leave, I like to try on each outfit that I’ve packed for the trip and take pictures of each one on my phone using a full length mirror. I make sure to include all of the accessories and shoes. It helps me to make sure each outfit looks the way that I want, and helps me ensure that I’ve packed everything I need for each day.

3. I like to ‘compartmentalize’ in my suitcase and my carry on bag. I like to separate things into compartments to stay organized and keep my luggage from turning into a mess. Jewelry in a bag, toiletries in another bag,  and if i’m carrying multiple bags on a trip with me I like to put the smaller bags into the bigger bag and pack it away as one unit.

4. Make the most of your space. Rolling up your belts and putting them into your shoes will help save space and help them keep their shape at the bottom of your luggage.

That’s all that I can think of for now! Keep an eye out for the next part of this series with either more tips on packing, or a peek into my carry on bag!
